Subject matter:
Content of this special security subject is aimed on security checking of persons, luggage, vehicles and parcels by means of metal detectors, x-ray systems (dual energy, back scatter, CT, diffraction), detectors of explosive, narcotic, chemical and biological trace particles (GC, IMS, MS) and other sophisticated devices, i.e. nuclear electrical quadrupole resonance, neutron activation of gamma radiation, passive imaging of millimeter electromagnetic waves etc. Description of improvised explosive devices, possibilities of their masking and detection are presented.
Subject objective:
Subject is based on up-to-date knowledge of police technical devices and their use in practice. Student are introduced to basic physical principles and methods of use of sophisticated detectors used for persons, luggage, vehicles and parcels checking. Students are introduced to possible countermeasures to masking of improvised explosive devices.
